Dave Bernat drums |
| |
Dave Bernat has enjoyed playing and teaching in the Chicago area for over 25 years. He began studying drums and percussion in junior high and started teaching while in high school for a local marching band’s drum line. He continued his formal study in orchestral percussion, including mallets and timpani as well as drum set, at DePaul University with Al Payson, Mike Green and Tom Radtke. He is currently teaching students from Chicago area, as well as teaching private lessons as part of the St. Giles school band program. Dave has worked as a composer and drummer for the Chicago based music house “Genuine Music” and continues to freelance with several different groups in the Chicago area. His main teaching goals are to give his students the tools they need to achieve a high level of proficiency in drumming and percussion technique and performance

Ed Breckenfeld drums |
| |
Ed is one of the top professional drummers in the Chicago area. A major-label recording artist with Epic Records, Ed has and continues to perform with many top Midwest bands over the years, including The Insiders, The Cathy Richardson Band, Jim Peterik’s World Stage, Off Broadway, the Dooley’s & currently can be seen performing with Lifeforce (Jim Pereik). His recording work includes albums for the above bands and many other national and international artists, along with radio and television commercials. Additionally, Ed has written articles for Modern Drummer, the most widely read drum magazine in the world. Ed’s over 35 years of drumming include 25 years as a well-known drum instructor, specializing in beginning, intermediate, and advanced drum set and snare drum technique. Ed also performs for Masters classes for the music department at Columbia College. Among Ed’s accomplishments is his book: Off The Record – Inside The Playing of Today’s Top Drummers. Ed teaches school age – adult at Musical Expressions.

Alan Hannapel drum and voice |
| |
Alan has been teaching drum and vocal lessons for twenty-five years. He earned his B.A. in Music from Elmhurst College in 1987. Alan is currently teaching drums and voice in District 204 High Schools. Alan has experience performing and recording many styles of music including classical, jazz, pop, rock, R & B, and marching band/drum corps. His students have gained lead roles in theater productions to Young Naperville Singers to the school orchestra to a rock band. Alan guides his students to attain the necessary techniques and physical strength in order for them to reach their full potential. He takes accountability for his student’s development and makes sure they gain a comprehensive understanding of what they are learning. Alan’s students will say the lessons are enjoyable, rewarding, and educational. He teaches students that range from age 7 to adult. Alan is a true natural with kids, and has two daughters of his own.

Ronald Spaeth drums, percussion |
| |
Ron received both his BA and Masters degrees in Percussion Performance from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Since moving to the Chicago area in 1989, he has performed professionally throughout the Midwest. These performances have ranged from theater work to club work to weddings and corporate events. Ron has also opened for George Jones, Martina McBride and other national recording artists. His teaching experience includes years of private instruction for students of all ages and playing levels, including close work with the band/orchestra directors in Naperville and surrounding school districts. In percussion, he has experience with timpani and mallet instruments, in addition to drum set and snare drum. Ron also has experience with marching drum lines, as well as adjudication for the various solo and ensemble contests and the Illinois Music Educators Association's annual auditions. He provides a well-rounded approach to percussion for school-aged students to adult students of any level.
