Alana Cabel and Erin FishlerbranamGreetings! My name is Alana Cabel and I take singing lessons with Erin Branam here in Musical Expressions. I joined Musical Expressions at the age of 9. From the first day, I was a bit timid because I didn't know Erin very well. When I got to know more about her, my anxiety relaxed.  From that day on, I have been learning so many different techniques to help me with my singing. We have been working on various types of music genres such as classical, Broadway, and my most favored; pop. She is always trying to unravel my talent and show who I really am. I have not only been taking singing lessons, but I also have sung with the Young Naperville Singers choir. Truthfully, I must say I was a little anxious because I did not familiarize with my fellow choir members. I felt like I was the new kid on the block. Since then, new friendships have blossomed into action and because of that I did not feel so left out anymore. Also, I enjoy the fact that we had the chance to expand on the different languages of voice such as Greek and German. I admire the beautiful voices that blend into one whole harmonious song. I have been competing in American guild of Music for 3 years. Because of the happening last summer, I have to admit that this was the most special memory of my life so far. I competed in three categories which were, as stated; voice, piano, and keyboard. As you have notice, I have a joy for singing. It was my very first year to compete in All-Around for vocal. All-Around is the chance to compete in a few more entries than what you are required to such as Broadway, art songs, pop, classical, self accompaniment, duets, and ensembles. When the successors announced my name in reward to accomplishing the All-Around champion for vocal, I felt astounded. For once, I thought that I was dreaming, but in a split second I knew that it was reality. Grasping the trophy, my smile never ceased.
