Bridget Becker

  Bridget Becker voice and piano

Bridget has a Bachelor of Vocal Performance from the University if Illinois and her Master’s Degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She has taught private voice lessons in the Chicago area since 2000. Currently, she teaches private voice and piano lessons at two suburban high schools and is a frequent adjudicator for area high school music festivals. Bridget’s teaching relies on a foundation of healthy singing and playing technique.  Learning proper breathing, posture, diction, and music reading skills, students can adjust to many different styles of music with confidence and control. She believes that singers can and should explore as many styles of music as their interests inspire. Bridget also plays piano, and lessons may include working with students on keyboard skills. Her students have played leads in high school musicals, sung everything from Andrews Sisters trios and Regina Spektor songs to Mozart. Several have been in IMEA All-State honors and regular choirs, and have won music competitions.

Jennifer Kubik
  Jennifer Kubik voice

Jennifer Kubik earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in music and drama from Bennington College in Vermont.  She continued her studies in vocal performance at Brooklyn College in New York and with the Institute of Musical Arts (IMA) with Ms. Betti McDonald.  Jennifer teaches to meet each student’s own artistic development.  She provides a challenging but safe environment for the discovery of the voice.  She enjoys sharing music abilities with others while fostering their own creativity.  While guiding students with technical and artistic advice, it is important to keep in mind the basics - breathing, focus, support, and relaxing tensions.  Jennifer thinks of the voice as an instrument.  Just as the piano can play different styles of music, so can the voice.  She helps students to develop control and to understand how to effectively use their voices.  Her students work on pieces of music that will help in training the voice and are coached in proper technique for the genre and style of each piece.  Jennifer has worked as a teaching artist in the Southwest suburban area for the past 10 years.  She has served as music director and theater director for various children’s theater productions including Honk, Godspell, and Peter Pan.  Her students have worked professionally in the American Girl Theatre and The Theater Building in Chicago.  Others have moved on to attend The Chicago Academy for the Performing Arts and graduated to attend performing arts programs in various colleges
